Intestinal Pain

Intestinal pain is one of the most common symptoms of inflammatory bowel conditions. This along with diarrhea -bloating and gas are an indication that the inner terrain of your GI tract has been altered. These symptoms can only happen when the mucosal lining which protects the tender lining of the colon has been destroyed.

Foods To Not Eat If You Have IBS, Colitis or Crohn’s.

I have stated many times that food has nothing to do with inflammatory bowel or stomach problems including acid reflux. That is true in the context of what causes these conditions. You cannot eat your way into or out of these conditions.

The nature of these conditions is that there is damage to the tissue.

Microscopic Colitis / Lymphocytic Colitis

If you have been diagnosed with either of these conditions don’t worry about it- you don’t have anything terminal or mysterious. Although technically they are not colitis they might as well be. They have the same symptoms -the same cause -the same cure. The main symptoms are diarrhea and abdominal pain. As a matter of fact these are so similar to other inflammatory bowel diseases (not diseases at all- but manmade injuries to the GI tract) that any doctor could have very easily diagnosed you with IBS.

IBS and Nausea

I am often asked if there is any connection between irritable bowel syndrome and nausea. The answer is yes. IBS happens in the bowel and nausea in the stomach. Odds are that if you have a problem with one you will have a problem with the other as the plumbing is all connected.

IBD is not an Auto Immune Disease

IBS – COLITIS – UC – LEAKY GUT SYNDROME – CROHN’S DISEASE ARE NOT AUTO-IMMUNE DISEASES!

The title auto–immune disease suggests that the cause of these symptoms:

  • – diarrhea
  • – pain
  • – bloating
  • rectal bleeding and
  • mucus in the stool

is the immune system attacking the intestines for no apparent reason.

Your Bowel Is Your Boss

Who rules? I’ll tell you who rules. Your butt does.

How about when you want to go to a movie and catch a bite—–but are too afraid of having urgent diarrhea or embarrassing gas on that 1st date?

How about when you can’t wear that new outfit you bought on sale because every time you eat you become 9 months pregnant?

Low Residue Diet

This is a diet that is recommended by many doctors for people with inflammatory bowel conditions such as IBS- colitis-ulcerative colitis and crohn’s. It is just a different way of saying a low fiber diet. The problem is that this is being presented as being either the cure or as the best that can be done.

IBS with Diarrhea and Constipation

There are some of you with IBS that have both diarrhea and constipation which can be kind of puzzling as the most typical IBS symptom is acute/urgent diarrhea. We call people with both- swingers. They swing back and forth between the two and often in the same day. IBS is a manmade inflammatory bowel disease(actually not a disease or a syndrome at all!) and constipation is a genetic issue -not an IBD.

IBD – What not to do.

In your search for natural treatments and cures for your particular inflammatory bowl condition there is a ‘what not to do list.

1. Do not take digestive enzymes if you have an inflammatory bowel condition. You have the condition in the 1st place because your own digestive enzymes are eating away at the walls of your intestinal tract.
