A Modern IBS Rationale – When Is Your IBS Cured

Let me pose this question. How do you know when your IBS is cured?

This also goes for any other inflammatory bowel condition.

Here is the only rational answer: listen to your body. You will know when your symptoms are gone for an extended period of time.

What is extended?

IBS-C

People with IBS-C actually have two conditions. They suffer from both constipation and diarrhea. Well-not at the same time. They swing back and forth often in the same day.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation is quite common. The most common is the version featuring diarrhea. The bowel’s response to inflammation is to draw a lot of water into the colon to dilute the stomach acid and to push everything out to try to limit the damage to the tissue.

IBS Questions & Answers

What are the most usual questions related to IBS and what are my answers for you?

I am frequently asked several good questions about irritable bowel syndrome.

1. ‘If I don’t have diarrhea can I still have IBS?’

Yes —- although diarrhea is the most common symptom it is not uncommon for people suffering with IBS to be constipated –

IBS, Colitis, UC, Leaky Gut and Crohn’s. What is the difference?

Wanna know what is the difference? Guess what!

There is none.  Everything you have been told about these conditions either being autoimmune system diseases or that the cause is unknown and that there is no cure – is wrong. You need to know this. You need to think about this. You need to do some homework on this and you need to start asking questions of the people who are in charge of your health.

IBS & Food – All You Need to Know

There is not a lot that needs to be said about IBS or any inflammatory bowel condition and food. If somebody you are talking to – a doctor or holistic practitioner or your sister says more than this then they don’t know what they are talking about.

  • It’s not about the food!

IBS with Diarrhea and Constipation

There are some of you with IBS that have both diarrhea and constipation which can be kind of puzzling as the most typical IBS symptom is acute/urgent diarrhea. We call people with both- swingers. They swing back and forth between the two and often in the same day. IBS is a manmade inflammatory bowel disease(actually not a disease or a syndrome at all!) and constipation is a genetic issue -not an IBD.

IBS & Colitis & Arthritis

Think you have arthritis? Got aches and pains? Has anyone ever actually told you what arthritis is? I mean what causes it-other than getting old? Of course we all know that ‘itis’ refers to pain-irritation. It’s pretty mysterious stuff. Where the hell does it come from?

Could there be any connection to conditions such as col-itis?

NSAIDs And Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Most people believe that Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs cause inflammatory bowel conditions. Not so. Yes it is true that the use of drugs such as aspirin- ibuprofen and naproxin can contribute to the inflammation of the gastro-intestinal tract but they are not the cause- they are only the secondary influence.

IBS & Stress & Other Misc Myths

Another installment in the Natural Treatment of IBS series.

IBS stands for irritable bowel syndrome. Why the term ‘syndrome?’ This is a term that is used medically for 2 reasons-

  1. When there may be more than one contributing factor.
  2. When they don’t know what it is & what causes it.

IBS-IBD: The Ultimate Guide to Understanding Inflammatory Bowel Conditions

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a set of inflammatory disorders of the colon and IBS, Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease are the main types of inflammatory bowel disease. It needs to be kept clear that IBD’s are not in fact diseases and also that IBD is not in itself a bowel condition.
